Minister of Youth, Jamila Ibrahim, made this revelation during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
Daily Post reported that the decision comes in response to the growing concerns over the safety of corps members, with instances of kidnappings reported during their one-year mandatory national service.
Minister Ibrahim emphasized that the NYSC is prioritizing the security of its members by restricting postings to only those states considered safe.
“As an immediate intervention by the government and the NYSC, we have ceased posting corps members to unsafe states. This is a measure we have implemented in the past, and we continue to do so to ensure their safety,” Ibrahim stated.
Highlighting the collaborative effort required for the safety of corps members, she expressed that working with other government agencies is crucial.
