Mikel Arteta has been slammed by rival supporters after internet sensation ‘Salt Bae’ was spotted feeding the Arsenal boss steak from a fork. The Gunners jetted off to the Middle East earlier this week for a training camp, taking advantage of the Premier League’s winter break....CONTINUE READING

The Spaniard, his coaching staff and the players will be in the United Arab Emirates until Tuesday, January 16, as they look to intensify their training sessions in a far warmer – and sunnier – climate than that at London Colney in north London. During their stay, Arteta was spotted at ‘Salt Bae’s’ infamous Nusr-Et Steakhouse.

The restaurant, which has attracted hundreds of social media influencers and sports stars over the years, has become synonymous for its flamboyant serving style. Arteta was the latest big name to visit the steakhouse – and, fortunately or not, a video of ‘Salt Bae’ serving the 41-year-old a piece of meat from a fork has gone viral on social media.

Captivated by the chief’s delicate handling of the steak, the Arsenal manager gazed as ‘Salt Bae’ sliced his food for him before completing the ritual with the iconic salt sprinkling action. After the internet sensation was finished preparing the dish, he dangled the piece of meat over Arteta’s mouth.

He eventually latched onto the steak before ‘Salt Bae’ posed for a picture. Arteta’s antics have gone viral on social media, and rival fans have leapt at the opportunity to ridicule him. One user on X, by the username @relationismfc85, posted: “Arteta thinks he’s a brand. As a manager your only brand is winning trophies. That’s how you gain visibility. Not letting man pop seasoned meat in your mouth.”

@maxrushden posted: “I’d give a 6 point deduction to anyone who eats some steak straight from the Salt Bae fork. Feels worse than an FFP breach.”

@jonhopswan posted: “I’m sorry, that should be expulsion from the football league, bare minimum. I haven’t seen anything this upsetting since David Seaman started selling windows.”

@FootyAccums posted: “Arteta paying for a ‘Saltbae’ video in 2024 might actually be worse than spending £65m on Havertz. It’s definitely close.”

“£2k to be fed like a sea-lion. I’ll pass,” wrote @J0NDUNN. Meanwhile, one Arsenal fan, @akarsenalnews, defended Arteta and wrote: “The head loss over the Arteta video of him enjoying a meal with his family. The photo of Saka resting and soaking up the sun on a boat… What would rather they be doing? Genuine question.”
