Her pain eventually became excruciating, and doctors believe she may have suffered a brain aneurysm. She fell into a coma and died soon after.

She leaves behind her husband Yahaya, their two-year-old daughter Khadijah, and their newborn baby girl. Bolanle first moved to the UK from Nigeria in 2021 with her family to pursue her dream of studying digital marketing at the University of Sheffield.

Friend Tyler Robinson has spoken of her “warm and kind” nature – and explained how he was left “devastated” after learning of her death.

He became friends with Bolanle shortly after she moved to Britain. As the family struggled to find accommodation, they had moved into Tyler’s mum’s AirBnB for what was initially supposed to be a three day stay. It ended lasting five weeks, and she developed a close bond with the family.

Tyler told Yorkshire Live: “Her and my mum became really close friends. She was so warm and kind to everyone she met. Her and her husband enjoyed helping out in the community and they were such a wonderful family – they would do anything for you.”

Bolanle moved to a house in nearby Eckington after falling pregnant with her second child, and went into hospital for an elective c-section on Wednesday, April 3.

She and her husband welcomed another beautiful daughter into the world and were transferred to the mother and baby unit, where Bolanle spent several hours singing to her newborn baby.

But few hours after giving birth, she began complaining of a headache. The pain became progressively worse, and her husband Yahaya was forced to pull the emergency alarm.

Nurses rushed into the room. It was initially suspected that Bolanle was having a stroke, and she was put into a coma. After four days of being in a coma, doctors suggested that Bolanle’s life support machine should be turned off.

Tyler, 30, said: “Yahaya is a very religious man, he’s Muslim and so he wanted to leave it in the hands of God.” A day after doctor’s had made the suggestion to turn off her life support system, on Monday April 8, Bolanle passed away.

Although her cause of death has not yet been confirmed, doctors believe that she may have had a brain aneurysm. I can’t even put into words how I felt when I found out,” Tyler said. “I was devastated – not just for the loss of her, but for something so tragic to happen to such a wonderful family is just horrendous.”

“Khadijah, who’s two years old, knows that her mum went into hospital to have her baby sister and now her mum’s not going out. It’s absolutely horrendous. One of the most important things to her was being a mother – she loved being a mum and she loved her husband more than anything. They worshipped each other.”

Tyler has now set up a GoFundMe page to help support Bolanle’s family. The e-commerce manager from Chesterfield said: “Worrying about living costs is a burden that we do not want him (Yahaya) to have to go through while he is grieving the loss of his wife.”

He explained that she had initially set the fundraising target of £3,000 in order to cover the cost of Bolanle’s funeral. Her funeral took place on Friday at Madina Mosque in Sheffield, and her family only discovered on the day that Madina community had banded together to cover the costs of her funeral in full.

A total of £3,010 of the £5,000 target has been raised so far. The money will go towards living costs for Yahaya and their two children, as well as towards covering the costs of a Visa for Bolanle’s sister, who is hoping to move to the UK to help Yahaya take care of his two daughters.

Tyler said: “I’m extremely grateful to everyone who’s contributed – I really can’t thank them enough. It really is going to make such a difference for her husband during such a difficult time..<<CONTINUE READING>>
