Meanwhile, two Chelsea players who were on loan last season impressed Thomas Tuchel during the game and if they continue this way, the German could integrate them into his plans for next season.
One game performance is not enough to judge a player nevertheless, Tuchel will be motivating his players to keep performing at the highest level.
Chelsea started the game nicely as they slowly build from the back. The first half ended 0-0. The closest chance was when Kai Havertz missed a glorious opportunity.
In the second half, Chelsea took the lead through Timo Werner. The German scored from a rebound after his initial shot was blocked.
Club America equalized through Reece James’s own goal. Mason Mount sealed the victory for Chelsea as he shoots from the edge of the box.
However, here are the two Chelsea players that impressed Tuchel today:
1. Conor Callagher
The Chelsea Academy graduate had a beautiful game against Club America as he was paired with Ross Barkley in a 3-4-3 lineup. Callagher helped Chelsea win several possessions in tight areas and he could have registered an assist today when he set up Kai Havertz which the German failed to score.
Tuchel seems to be a fan of the 22-year-old and he could be part of the project for the next campaign.
2. Ethan Ampadu
The versatile player was instrumental to Chelsea’s win today and Tuchel during the post-match interview lavished some praises on him. The Head Coach said that he thinks the position in the back three is a good position for Ethan because the youngster played plenty of forwarding passes and was very active. So he thinks he played a good game.
