Ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy would like to see the Blues replace Timo Werner with West Ham star Jarrod Bowen.
Chelsea have fibally started doing some transfer business that is getting fans excited ahead of the upcoming season – Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly have both joined the club
However – Thomas Tuchel knows that he needs to keep on improving this side and adding players that will make a real difference – and that has led to constant speculation in the media that Bowen is on the shopping list
Bowen had an amazing season last year with the Hammers and managed an impressive 18 goals in all competitions for the club as they challenged for a Champions League place all the way until the end of the season
Timo Werner was supposed to be a player that would bring goals to the attack – but despite his hard work and despite his creativeness – he does not score the goals that he was brought to the club to do
Now – Jason Cundy has come out and encouraged the Blues to make a move and try to secure a deal for Bowen – as as possible replacement for Werner: “He’s been brilliant at West Ham,” Jason Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“He’s also got a left foot which gives you another little dimension. His finishing is superb. He’s gone from strength to strength.
“I’m surprised there’s not been a bit more interest in him actually. I think he’s better than Werner, he’s in that similar kind of mould.
“Yeah I would [take Bowen] actually, I would have him. I don’t think they’re going to let him go for less than £50/60million, I think that’s probably where he’s at.”
Werner needs to leave the club as he is not the same player that he was in the Bundesliga – so we agree with Cundy and Chelsea should sign Bowen – he really is a class player
