Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Wolves at Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel will undoubtedly want a positive reaction from his team after their loss to Everton, as well as to boast about their chances of finishing in the top four. Here are three changes I expect Tuchel to make to improve his team ahead of this crucial game....CONTINUE READING
Trevoh in for Azpilicueta
Trevoh Chalobah, in my opinion, should be brought back ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta for this crucial game. When Chelsea faced Everton, it was Cesar Azpilicueta who was at fault for Richarlison’s winner. After costing Chelsea crucial points, the veteran defender should undoubtedly be benched for this game.
Chalobah, in my opinion, would be a better replacement for Azpilicueta on the right side of Chelsea’s back-three defense. Chalobah has been dependable almost every time he has been named to the starting XI. It will undoubtedly be a wise decision to recall the defender on Saturday.
Kovacic in for Jorginho
Jorginho was nowhere to be found against Everton when Chelsea needed those decisive passes. He was sluggish and underwhelming in that game. Kovavic, in my opinion, should replace the Italian midfielder in this crucial match.
Mateo Kovacic has fully recovered from an injury sustained in last month’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Crystal Palace. If he is recalled to the starting XI for Chelsea on Saturday, he will undoubtedly benefit the team.
Pulisic in for Werner
Werner’s form has recently dipped, and he has failed to score in his last three games. This is clearly a poor track record. He was nowhere to be found in the game against Everton, when Chelsea needed him the most.
Christian Pulisic, in my opinion, should take Werner’s place in this game. Pulisic hasn’t been at his best recently, but the American could return to the starting lineup against Wolves and outperform Werner.
