Victor Osimhen is close to agreeing a new contract with Napoli, according to Sky Sports in Italy. In the last few hours, all the details for the renewal of the Nigerian’s contract have been sorted out. The new deadline will be 2026, therefore one year more than the current one until 2025.
There will not be a double clause – one for Europe and one for Saudi Arabia – but instead only one which will not be valid for Italy for the first year. The amount of this clause will be approximately £129.4m (€150m).
As for salary, the attacker will receive a very high salary, approximately line with what he could have earned elsewhere based on the European offers received.
The signing, therefore, will certainly be higher than £8.6m (€10m)-per-year net and consequently Osimhen will be the highest paid player at Napoli.
Osimhen has been among the targets at a string of top clubs in recent years including Manchester United and Chelsea, while Saudi Arabian clubs have also been trying to sign him.
Man Utd approach Amadou Onana
Manchester United are considering a move for Everton’s Amadou Onana as their hunt for a midfielder continues. Erik ten Hag is keen to add a new midfielder to his squad before the end of the summer transfer window, and Everton’s Onana fits the bill.
However, according to The Guardian, United would need to part with at least £50 million ($64m) to convince Everton to sell. Everton are reluctant to sell Onana just 12 months after they signed him from Lille for £33m ($42m).
The Toffees say they are under no financial pressure to sell the 21-year-old this summer – despite their need to sign a striker – and believe his value will only increase.
Everton still targeting Leeds’ Gnonto
Everton are still looking to sign Wilfried Gnonto this summer despite the arrival of Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds, according to Sky Sports.
Sean Dyche wants to add another winger to his squad and Gnonto remains Everton’s number one target. Leeds have reiterated that Gnonto isn’t for sale having already rejected numerous approaches from Everton so far this summer.
Gnonto has missed Leeds last two games and it is believed he would welcome the opportunity to move to Goodison Park.
