Kylian Mbappe is a name Liverpool have been linked with ahead of the summer transfer window. But Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Mirror) claims that the representatives of the PSG star have informed the Reds that they are not an option for him....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

And LFC now know the battle for Mbappe is between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. While the French star was ‘flattered’ by Liverpool’s interest, it is likely that he will move to the La Liga giants and if not, will stay in Paris.

Jurgen Klopp, in his pre-match press conference yesterday (h/t Liverpool Echo), admitted that Liverpool are interested in the ex-AS Monaco star but that they are not in the race to sign him.

“Will we be involved in [Mbappe negotiations]? No. So, about Kylian Mbappe…of course, we are interested in Kylian Mbappe, we are not blind… But we are not, we cannot be part of these battles. There must be other clubs involved and that is fine. He is a great player.”

Mbappe to Liverpool always seemed more like a fantasy for our fans than a reality. He is currently one of the world’s best players at the age of just 23 and hence, would command a wage that reflects that.

No Mbappe for LFC?

It is imperative for the Reds to first look inwards and secure the long-term futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, even if they are approaching the twilight of their playing careers. When it comes to potentially signing a new attacker, there would be other options out there apart from Mbappe.

Mane came from Southampton, Salah from AS Roma, Diogo Jota from Wolves, Luis Diaz from FC Porto, and Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim. None of these players were- when they arrived- at a similar stature and level of fame that Mbappe is at right now.

Klopp has shown time and again how he has an eye for talent and can make a player world-class under his guidance. LFC don’t need to sign Mbappe to remain a dominant force in Europe.

Of course, a player like him always helps, with 36 goals and 26 assists across all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants. But the Reds just have to be smart to find another forward- if they want one at all right now- to meet their needs up front and one who doesn’t cost as much as Mbappe.

Los Galacticos apparently bid €200million for the rights to Mbappe last year but failed to get a response. It is clear that the finances surrounding the France international, especially with juggernauts such as PSG and Madrid involved, would be high. And Klopp’s comments should be the final nail in the coffin for LFC fans to let their dreams of seeing Mbappe in Liverpool rest.
