OFFICIAL: According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has completed an official deal with former Premier League hitman Benni McCarthy as he has been added to the team’s backroom staff as first-team coach. The ex-forward will specialise in coaching attacking plays and positioning.

The former Red Devils boss will link up with former CEO David Gill, ex-United skipper Bryan Robson and current football director John Murtough. The ‘think-tank’ has been set up by United’s current CEO Richard Arnold, who is keen to draw upon the experiences and knowledge of the respective individuals.

Manchester United are pulling out all the stops to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer – and have dropped the latest transfer hint they could complete a deal. However, the Red Devils suggested they may be confident they will land the Dutch man before deadline day.

The club released their squad numbers for the 2022-23 season – and left his beloved No 21 free. De Jong picked up the number coming through the ranks at Ajax and still has it for Barcelona and the Netherlands national team. So if he does complete the switch to Old Trafford, the midfielder is guaranteed to get his favourite number.

Chelsea Wants Inter Milan star player

Chelsea have made an enquiry for Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei, 19, as they continue talks with the Italians over defensive options too. While yet to make his Serie A debut, Sky Sport in Italy believe Inter will let Casadei go if the Blues offer €10 million (£8.3m).

The talented teen has been compared to Italian midfielder Marco Verratti, who has proven himself to be one of the best players in his position during a decade at PSG. Inter are set to respond to Chelsea’s approach in the next few hours, and may enter into negotiations with a counter offer.

Manchester City interested in signing Arsenal target

Premier League champions Manchester City are considering a move for Arsenal and Newcastle United target Lucas Paqueta. As reported by French media outlet L’Equipe, the Cityzens have identified Lyon midfielder Paqueta as a potential replacement for Bernardo Silva.

As reported by The Sun, Pep Guardiola’s side have offered Bernardo Silva to Barcelona for £67 million. As per the French publication, Lyon hopes to receive around £68 million for the former AC Milan midfielder, eclipsing the previous club-record sale £53.8 million sale of Tanguy Ndombele to Tottenham.
