1. Official: Rooney named head coach of DC United.

Wayne Rooney, a former player for England and Manchester United, was appointed on Tuesday as the new head coach of DC United. He has the job of resurrecting the struggling Major League Soccer team.

The 36-year-old British legend, who played for DC United from July 2018 to October 2019, reconnected with his former teammates after leaving to play and coach for Derby County in England. During his time with DC United, he scored 25 goals in 52 appearances.

Rooney left his position as Derby County’s head coach last month when the team was demoted to League One, England’s third division, making way for his return to the MLS.

2. Official: Albanian striker Rey Manaj moves to Watford from Barcelona.

Rey Manaj, a striker, has joined the London Colney first team squad after joining on loan from Barcelona.
