Gianluca di Marzio claims that Chelsea reportedly made a summertime offer to Inter for Casadei.
The 19-year-old is being courted by the Blues to join them at Stamford Bridge.
Although Casadei has yet to play for Inter at the senior level, Chelsea has been monitoring his development for some time.
The 19-year-old reportedly received interest from Chelsea at the time of Romelu Lukaku’s loan agreement. Just one year after paying £95 million to acquire Lukaku, the Blues arranged a loan agreement for him last month.
Todd Boehly has made the Inter board an offer of between €7 million and €8 million. The Serie A team hasn’t replied to the offer yet. However, the source claims that Inter is eager to include a repurchase mechanism in any potential sale.
Casadei is one of Inter’s top ‘Primavera’ prospects despite having only joined the organization’s first squad in February of this year. He was chosen as the club’s best young player after leading the second team in scoring last season with 16 goals.
Although he has not yet played for the first team, he was a member of the squad during the preseason. In the 4-1 victory against Lugano, the midfielder from Ravenna came on as a substitute; he did not play in the most recent victory over Lens.
