Most of the top European club would try to strengthen their squad in the Winter transfer window and Ronaldo who is currently a free agent might need to wait till January to see if any top European club makes him an offer. However, there are few reasons why Ronaldo might find it hard to get a top European club in the 2023 winter transfer window.

1. He left Manchester united in a bad a way

As you know, Ronaldo’s contract didn’t end with his former club as they have to terminate his contract mutually. Ronaldo has voiced his opinion to Piers Morgan about not respecting his former manager Erik Ten Hag.

It would be very difficult to see a top European club who would want to sign a player that thinks he is bigger than the manager and the club. Ronaldo let his pride to consume him and just because he left his former club in a very bad way, it might be hard to find a European club who would want to acquire his services.

2. Wage bill

During the spell of Ronaldo at Manchester united, he was the most paid player in the premier league, as he earned around 500,000 Euros per week. However, Ronaldo is a big player and it would be very difficult to see a top European club who would agree to pay half of this figure for a 37-year old player, who have been less productive in the 2022/23 season and 2022 FIFA world cup.

3. Age

Most top clubs want to sign players who have longevity and this explains why they prefer going after younger players, who could sign and okay for the club for four or five years.

Since Ronaldo would be 38 years next year, it would be very difficult to see a top European club sign him for the future. His age could be a factor that might hinder big clubs from coming after him in the winter transfer window.
