1. Man Utd 1-6 Man City (11/12)

In October 2011, United fell 6-1 to Manchester City, which could seem like a reasonable result if the match were played now, but things were drastically different at the time. When City took over in 2008, they were still the “noisy neighbours,” but United was a title-winning team at the time.

At Old Trafford, though, City upset United as Mario Balotelli scored twice to give the visitors a commanding lead before Sergio Aguero made it three. Although Darren Fletcher restored parity with a goal, United eventually gave up and suffered a humiliating defeat.

2. Southampton 0-9 Leicester (19/20)

In October 2019, Southampton suffered the biggest home Premier League loss ever as Leicester scored nine goals at St. Mary’s without receiving a reply from the visitors. Ben Chilwell gave the visitors an early lead, and after 12 minutes, Ryan Bertrand was dismissed from the game.

Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans broke down a depleted home side, and Southampton found themselves 3-0 down after only 20 minutes. The situation worsened further, however, when Perez and Jamie Vardy both scored a hat-trick, and James Maddison joined in the fun as well.

It was a humiliating loss and a painful lesson for Southampton, but they chose not to take it to heart. They were defeated 9-0 by United again at Old Trafford only four months later, and once again an early red card contributed to their demise.

3. Crystal Palace 0-7 Liverpool (20/21)

During the epidemic, football matches had a unique atmosphere as spectators disappeared. Crystal Palace’s lack of support in December 2020 damaged them.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t like Liverpool’s early start at Selhurst Park. Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino scored as the Reds triumphed 7-0.

Salah was benched, giving Palace hope, but Minamino, Mane, and Firmino scored for Liverpool before halftime. Henderson scored a fourth after halftime, followed by Firmino and Salah.

Roy Hodgson was humiliated by his old team. After supporters returned, Selhurst Park became a force again.
