1. Hyperosomolar hyperglycemic state (HHS).
This occurs mostly in people with type 2 diabetes. It suddenly occurs when your blood sugar levels are very high (over 600 milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL) for a long period. This complication results in severe dehydration and confusion.
2. Diabetes-related ketoacidosis (DKA).
People with type 1 diabetes whether diagnosed or not mainly have this condition.
