1. I wish you weren’t my parents.

This is one of the most hurtful things you could ever say to your mum or parents.

Always remember that they chose to bring you into this world, to love you and guide you. However, as an adult, learn to always look around at your friends and their relationship with their parents and then assess your own situation. It is probably better than you think.

2. Why did you give birth to me?

You were born because your parents desired you. You are still their child, regardless of how your family dynamics alter over time or whether you have periodic problems with them. They still think of you as the apple of their eye.

3. You love my brother/sister more than me.

This is one thing that most parents here all the time. Make sure you never accuse your parents of this. Just like Jesus loves us all equally, your parents love you and your siblings uniquely on an individual basis.

4. I hate you.

These three words cut so deep. You must understand that hate is a very strong word. No matter how upset or disgusted you are about your parent, you should never tell them that.

5. Why didn’t you teach me right from wrong?

You will agree with me that our parents teach us right from wrong at a very young age. The teach us to be obedient, be careful of what we say and to be kind to others.

What is more important is how we carry those things with us as we grow older, as well as the consequences of our decisions about what is wrong and right as we get older.

6. I am tired of helping you.

As your parents advance in age, they are certainly going to need your help more and more. Just pause for a minute and think of all the times they have helped you.

Everything from your first step, learning to tie your shoes, helping in your college years etc. It’s only right that you step up to help them in their golden years.
