They are well-respected people and so there are things that are not expected from them. It is not like doing such is bad but because of their position, doing such will look surprising to others. It will take only those who look beyond their positions and remember that they were once like every other person
You may have heard the news of those who after assuming a public post will not be willing to identify with people of the public but these governors I will be mentioning in this article are not like that.
The first person on my list is the former governor of Abia State. He is a billionaire and a businessman. In 2018, Dr. Orji Kanu with his friends was spotted buying and eating Akara (bean cake) in the state.
He didn’t end there but it was reported that he also gave the Akara seller some money to support the business.
The People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Professor Olushola Eleka in 2018 didn’t just buy Akara by the roadside but stepped down from his SUV jeep and took over from the woman selling Akara. Although he is known for his simplicity he went a bit beyond people’s expectations.
He did this 5 weeks to the Ekiti state governorship election and without doubt, the act presented him as a man who finds joy in connecting with his people.
Below is the former governor of Imo State carrying a baby and roasting corns by the roadside.
One humbling thing about this was that he did it while he was still the governor of the state.
In a similar development, the current governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was seen preparing food alongside Whitemoney during the Lagos State Food Festival.
You will agree with me that it is not everybody in their positions that will agree to do what they have done.
