But there are plenty of us who are not as naturally inclined to be moms. There are plenty of ways reasons that motherhood is beautiful but equally terrifying. To really understand what is so daunting about motherhood, check out these most common reasons women are scared to be a mom.

The responsibility.

When you become a mother, you are literally responsible for a life. The sheer magnitude of this responsibility is probably one of the most important things a mother will ever do. That is an intimidating task for any woman and is easily one of the biggest deterrents for women when thinking of motherhood.

The pain of childbirth

Some women undergo easier childbirth than others. But for some, childbirth can be an excruciating experience that is quite painful. From hours of labour to C sections, having a baby can be pretty tough to endure.

The stress

Once you have a child, you will worry about them for the rest of your life. Whether they are near or far, mothers will always spend countless hours stressing about the health and happiness of their children.

Lack of personal time.

A baby will be one of the biggest time commitments for a new mom. You will rarely have a second to yourself to relax. You’ll always have your kid by your side. In a sense, they will become your new miniature best friend.

The fact that everything will change

Life as you know it will no longer exist after having a baby. Thinking about your own needs first will be a thing of the past, as will those constant fun nights out on the town. You will now have to shift your focus and life to prioritize your kid first.

The lack of freedom.

From here on out, you can’t decide you want to just up and leave for a road trip, or get away from your responsibilities at the drop of a dime. For some women, losing this much freedom can be intimidating.

No natural motherly or nurturing tendencies.

Do you see other babies and never feel the urge to ooh and ahh, or hold and snuggle them? This may make you feel like you don’t possess a natural urge to be a mother. This could be true, but it could also mean that you will feel a motherly instinct once you bond with your own child.

Fear of hurting the baby.

A new baby is so vulnerable and totally dependent on his or parents for everything. This can be a scary realization, with fears that you may accidentally harm your new baby or forget something critical to his or her health. But motherhood is about trying as hard as you can, allowing yourself some room for mistakes, and loving your kid through it all…READ THE FULL CONTENTS>>
