By definition, envy is basically when you want what another person has.

You may feel it when a friend of yours is insanely popular and desired by many of the opposite gender, very successful at what they are doing, or a famous artist such as a singer or actor.

No matter how hard you try to cover it with a smile, envy isn’t something that goes away on its own. It can spiral out of control into destructive jealousy and even depression.

So what can you do to curb envy before it consumes you? 1. Celebrate their wins and don’t resent them.

Ultimately, all that resentment will do is it makes you a bitter and deeply unhappy person and it hurts you more than it hurts the one you resent.

So, why not just let go of the resentment and be happy for them.

Because it’s very unfair towards yourself and toxic to your mental health to compare your failures and your shortcomings to other peoples successes and strengths.

3. Realize that there will always be someone who does better than you in some or many aspects.

The sooner you come to terms with this, the less likely it is that envy will have a hold over your decisions and actions.

4. Use it to become aware of what you want out of life.
