Ibrahim Khalil announced his resignation from the APC at a time when the party is embroiled in a rift between Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.
“Well, as an APC member and one of the elders and one of the caucus, I want to make sure I leave the APC,” he told the BBC.
“Everything in life has a reason. There are three reasons: either the educated and the intelligent know, or everyone knows, or the person knows the reason,” he said.
Asked if he had left the APC because some said he had been fired from the leadership of the Kano State Ulema Council, he denied it.
“If that was the case, I would have stepped down since. It is not the reason, because just as I did not explain my separation from the government, I do not have to waste time explaining it.”
He also said he was still there as a politician.
“I did not give up politics and I did not say I would not join the party. I did not join the ANPP myself, I was registered by the party as a friend. So now I will join the party and I can see for myself. ”
Asked if he would run for governor of Kano, he said, “I have never said I will run because it is a public race, and they asked me to run, and they did not tell me to run.
