Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stated on Monday that Senator George Akume, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, will soon abandon the APC and come back to us.
Between 1999 through 2007, Senator Akume served as Governor of Benue State on the PDP platform.
Senator Ayu made the statement at a gathering in Gboko when the APC member for Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr. John Dyegh, and his throngs of followers defected to the PDP.
Senator Ayu addressed the crowd, saying, “Your long-lost son, Senator George Akume, is returning to the PDP.” Based on what I know, I’m making this statement. Akume would hold the broom, as I said, and he did.
“Now I’m predicting that he’ll return to the PDP.” When he returns, do not reject him; instead, make sure you rehabilitate him because he may not be thinking well where he is now. He’s like a prodigal son, a lost son.
“Now you just have to rehabilitate him and make sure he can think clearly.”
