His worries, according to information, centre around the stand of some of his fellow party men that they would ensure he’s limited to a single term of four years as governor.

Governor Oyetola is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and also a member of its National Working Committee for that matter.

He defeated Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge the 5th executive governor of Osun State in 2018.

Though yet to officially declare he would run for another term, Gov Oyetola’s supporters have already hit the streets with a reelection campaign.

Interestingly, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the man he served in administration as Chief of Staff for eight years, is reportedly against him and presently at the forefront leading other party top shots insisting on scuttling his second term ambition.

Aregbesola who ruled the state between 2010 and 2018, currently serves in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as the minister of interior.

Checks by highstreet.ng revealed the former governor is not alone in the fight against the reelection bid of the man who took over from him.

His stand against his once-upon-a-time associate receive a huge boost not long ago with a move by the trio of Yusuf Lasun, the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Moshood Adeoti, who was the secretary to the state government and the former Speaker of Osun State House Assembly, Najeem Salam.

They recently come together and agreed to work in consonance with The Osun Progressives (TOP), a sinister group within the state APC.

TOP is populated by party members who are loyal to the Minister of the Interior, highstreet.ng understands.

Information pieced together revealed The Osun Progressives’ ultimate goal is to stop governor Oyetola from clinching the party ticket ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Another gubernatorial election holds on July 16 2022.

Also listed as opposed to Oyetola’s second term bid is the Adelere Adeyemi Oriolowo, the senator representing Osun West Senatorial District.

A close ally of minister Aregbesola, Oriolowo is also said to have indicated interest in vying for the ruling party’s gubernatorial ticket.

Sources maintained the fact resolution of the crisis rocking the party is not in sight has thrown a discomfort of sort the way of Mr. Governor.
