The Reds suffered just one defeat in 40 outings since the start of 2022, which they also won two trophies. Liverpool ended the 2021-22 campaign without winning the Premier League or the Champions League but irrespective of that, Liverpool’s 2021-22 campaign is a successful one.

The Reds secured Champions League football next season, won two Cup tournaments, reached the Champions League final and also rivaled Manchester City for the Premier League title until final day.

However there are still some major issues pressing Liverpool that Jurgen Kloop needs to tackle, before things go out of control.

Which brings us to the real deal, below is how Liverpool’s 2022 summer transfer window could look like if certain moves push through this summer.

Potential out

Unlike the previous summer, a certain number of individuals are expected to leave Anfield this summer including 2021 AFCON winner Sadio Mane.

After the Champions League final against Real Madrid, reports had it that Sadio Mane has wished Liverpool good luck and German outfits Bayern Munich are leading the race for his signature. However Liverpool will not be willing to let him go for anything less than £90m.

2020 summer signing Ozan Kabak could also leave this summer due to his lack of playing time at Liverpool last season.

Divock Origi is another departure that has been confirmed by Liverpool after his contract expired at the start of this month.

Potential in

This is an area where less business is expected to be done this summer, however one new arrival has been announced by Liverpool earlier this month.

Fabio Carvalho has completed a switch from Craven Cottage to Anfield, a day after the final Premier League match of the 2021-22 campaign.

Another potential target for Liverpool this summer is Benfica and Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez but no official bid has been submitted by Liverpool yet.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are expected to have a quiet 2022 summer transfer window in terms of summer arrivals.

Contracts

This is another area that needs immediate attention at Anfield. Egypt international Mohamed Salah is entering the final year of his Liverpool contract and an extension looks far from happening.

Salah’s contract issue at Liverpool is a situation that Jurgen Klopp will have to solve before the start of the new season. Contract talks are expected to advance between Liverpool and their Egyptian talisman Mohamed Salah this summer.

England international James Milner recently signed a one-year-deal that will see him at remain at Anfield until the end of next season.

Other than that, previous summer signing like Diogo Jota, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Allison Becker still has two or three years left on their current contract. Leaving Mohamed Salah’s contract as Liverpool’s major priority this summer.
