Sadio Mané’s move to Bayern Munich seems a mere formality now at this stage, with it being widely reported that Liverpool have agreed a deal with the Bundesliga champions to sell the forward this summer.

It had been reported that Liverpool were holding out for a specific amount of money to let the Senegal international go and the two sides had been apart between offer and demand. But according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool decided to lower their demands out of respect for Mané and his contribution to the club over the last six years, and with the player looking to leave Anfield in a respectful manner, a deal was seemingly reached between the two clubs.

Regardless of Liverpool lowering their demands for Mané, the club are still making a small profit on the player. In all, everyone wins from the deal: Mané gets to leave in the way he wants, Bayern get their man, and Liverpool make their money back on the £30m they spent on him six years ago. Furthermore, relations between the two clubs remain excellent, and it could lead to further business.

The two clubs did business in the summer of 2020, when Thiago Alcântara went the other way. Again, business was done in a relatively calm way, with Liverpool getting one of the best in the world in his position, and a player who’d just starred for Bayern in their Champions League triumph, at a low-cost price of £20m.

The two clubs clearly had excellent relations, and this could benefit Liverpool in the future. Bayern have a number of players who could be of interest to the Reds in the coming years.

The likes of Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala could all be of interest to Jürgen Klopp within the next couple of years, and Liverpool could use their good relationship with Bayern to their advantage.

Upamecano had been linked with a move to Liverpool before opting for a switch to Bayern and, as Virgil van Dijk ages and Joël Matip gets gradually phased out, Upamecano could be an option to partner Ibrahima Konaté several years down the line.

Coman is another Bayern player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, this was especially true last summer, when it was reported that he was on the club’s radar if Mohamed Salah was to leave.

Despite seemingly being around forever, Coman is still only 26, and has plenty of years left at the highest level. He could be an option for Liverpool in the next year or two.

Musiala, who could’ve played for England but opted for Germany, has a very bright future ahead of him, and given his precocious age, he may seek a new challenge away from Germany in the next four of five years.

His rise over the last couple of years has been remarkable and, should he want another shot at English football, having been a Chelsea youth product, Liverpool could be in prime position to sign him as a post-Salah option, even if the Egyptian signs a contract extension.

Yet all of this is conjecture. For now, the only thing that is certain is that Liverpool and Bayern’s relationship is proving very beneficial for both sides. The Mané deal has just proven that again.
