The Uruguay international had a superb 2021/22 campaign with Benfica, bagging 34 goals in all competitions.
While he was in terrific form domestically, he also netted against Ajax, Bayern, Barcelona and Liverpool in Europe.
His displays have caught the eye of several high-profile teams, and Corrieo da Manha cites United as one of those.
It is added that Benfica want at least €105m for their prized asset with the majority of the transfer fee paid up front.
United are keen on landing the former Almeria man, but it remains to be seen whether they will make such an outlay.
It was recently claimed that they could offer upto €75m for Nunez with a further €20m in the form of easy add-ons.
While the package sounds interesting, Benfica may not accept the proposal with 20 per cent of the sale fee owed to Almeria.
Reports in Uruguay claim Manchester United and Newcastle are both set to submit bids for Darwin Nunez and as of now, they are supposedly the clubs closest to signing the Benfica star. The two Premier League sides are part of a long list of potential suitors for the 22-year-old.
