The Manchester based outfit are in search of a top-level forward to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo and secure a long-term solution. Kane is seen as the preferred option as he is already established in the English top flight and may push for a move this summer.
Kane, in the latter stages of his career, is eager to win trophies, which may not be feasible at Tottenham in the near future, especially after their failure to qualify for European competition this season.
However, convincing Tottenham to part ways with their star player ahead of the next season would still require a significant transfer fee, likely in the range of £100 million.
While United may be willing to proceed with a bid, developments in Madrid have complicated the situation. Real Madrid had not anticipated losing their star striker Karim Benzema, whose contract expired, but the club legend has decided to move on after a long tenure.
Reports from Spain, including Marca, suggest that Kane has emerged as Real Madrid’s preferred choice to replace Benzema, which is not surprising given their similar playing profiles and abilities.
Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to make a £100 million offer for Kane, but United may hold a slight advantage. Kane is said to have a desire to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal-scoring record, a feat he could realistically achieve within the next two seasons.
The crucial question will be whether that ambition is enough to keep him in England, especially when Real Madrid are offering the opportunity to become a Galactico signing and compete for league titles and the Champions League, something United cannot offer at this stage.
