Erik ten Hag has identified Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as his top priority this summer, but United and the Catalan club are engaged in protracted negotiations with no end in sight.

Additionally, six players have already left the team on free transfers, and it doesn’t appear that United will be able to replace them any time soon.

According to recent reports, Cristiano Ronaldo has been keeping an eye on the situation and is dissatisfied with how the transfer window has played out so far.

According to AS, although Ronaldo was adamant about finishing his contract year, he is now having second thoughts about that decision after seeing how United’s competitors have gotten stronger with the additions of players like Darwin Nunez and Ering Haaland to Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively.

According to the source, Ronaldo believes that the gap between United and those two clubs would widen, and he would not want to waste one of his final seasons by failing to compete for titles. According to reports, the 37-year-old wants United to add more players.

It’s safe to conclude that United’s followers are also growing irritated with the club’s lack of progress in the transfer market, adding to Ronaldo’s frustration.

Ten Hag is said to be frustrated by the cumbersome pace of United’s negotiations with Barcelona over De Jong. Ten Hag is scheduled to return to Carrington this week as he gets ready for the start of preseason.

But the 53-year-old will do anything to please Ronaldo. Currently, United’s number seven is the only true striker on the team, so removing him would add to the workload of the organization.

Making the acquisition of another striker a top priority might be disastrous given that the current state of play is already too much.
