According to The Athletic, Chelsea and Inter have agreed a loan deal for Romelu Lukaku – an €8 million (£6.8m) loan fee plus add-ons to pave the way for Lukaku’s return to San Siro.

The report further claims that Lukaku will undergo a medical next week before completing his move back to the side he helped win the Serie A title with in the 2020-21 season.

Italian media Gazzetta dello Sport, claims Lukaku was moved to tears after Chelsea agreed a season-long loan deal with Inter Milan.

Lukaku has long been keen with a return to Inter Milan, which was his stomping ground before his £97.5m move to Chelsea.

In the agreement between the two clubs, Inter do not have an option to buy Lukaku after his loan spell, so Lukaku will return back to Chelsea after his one year loan spell with the Serie A side.

Lukaku has also taken a pay cut to see this deal become a success. The Belgian was earning a massive £325k a week at Chelsea.

Lukaku has a contract with Chelsea until 2026.
