The win came at Leicester’s King Power stadium ahead of Sunday’s Euro 2022 final between England and Germany.
Liverpool and Man City fans had the chance to watch Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland during the Community Shield final and they already knew what to expect from their new signings ahead of the EPL 2022/2023 season.
Haaland led the front line for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side and he (Haaland) played the whole 90 minutes while Darwin Nunez played 30 minutes for Liverpool and he scored one goal and he was also involved in Salah’s goal.
Obvious, Nunez performed brilliantly while Haaland was the shadow of himself and fans has been wondering why Nunez performed better than the Norwegian international.
The reasons why Nunez performed better is not far fetched because, any average striker will flourish under Jurgen Klopp because of Liverpool style of play.
Liverpool plays a lot of long balls which allows Darwin Nunez to score with ease. Liverpool are also blessed with pacy wingers like Luis Diaz and Mohammed Salah who knows how to play direct football.
Liverpool style of play will give any striker a lot of chances to score goals from open play because Liverpool players has the ability to exchange long passes.
Erling Haaland was the shadow of himself during the Community Shield final because Guardiola is not accustomed to playing with a striker.
Guardiola altered his style of play for Haaland as he ordered his players attack liverpool from the wing so that Haaland will have more opportunities to score but the tactics didn’t work out as Haaland had three chances during the game.
Moreover, Haaland was unlucky because Mahrez and Grealish were not as fast as Liverpool wingers.
