According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Rayan Cherki is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the future. The Merengues are closely monitoring the progress of the 18-year-old French wonderkid at Lyon.

Rayan Cherki is one of the brightest young prospects in France, with many considering him one of Lyon’s best-ever prospects. The teenage prodigy joined Les Gones from Saint-Priest in 2010 before making swift progress in the Ligue 1 club’s academy.

The 18-year-old broke into the first-team setup at the Groupama Stadium in October 2019 aged 16. Cherki has since progressed considerably, although he is yet to become a mainstay in the attack for Lyon.

The French wonderkid has amassed nine goals and ten assists in 63 appearances for Lyon. But he faces an uncertain future at the Ligue 1 club as his contract will run out next year, which has alerted Real Madrid.

Cherki admittedly dreams about joining Real Madrid, who have been tracking his progress for years. The teenage sensation first caught the attention of Los Blancos when Zinedine Zidane was at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu. The former French international had wanted to have Cherki at his disposal, but a move never materialised.
