Raheem Sterling has expressed his surprise at England fans being worried about a possible injury to Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, as he told talkSPORT....CONTINUE READING

The Chelsea winger expressed that ‘I haven’t even noticed’ that the Tottenham hitman had a knock and there were issues being raised about a possible ankle injury to Hary Kane ahead of England’s World Cup showdown against the USA on Friday.

During England’s 6-2 win over Iran on Monday, he turned his ankle in a pretty nasty way, but the Spurs man carried on, before being subbed towards the end of the game as Gareth Southgate’s side cruised to an opening three points in Qatar.

Ahead of England’s showdown against the USA, there is positive talk coming out about Kane, including the fact that he is training, as reported by BBC Sport.

Nonetheless, Sterling was full of praise for his national teammate, his injury and the ability he has on the ball after he provided an assist to the Chelsea man against Iran.

“He is someone, with his physicality, when he holds the ball up, he can create stuff as well,” said Sterling. “So, he’s someone you stay close to because you know that he does have a good eye for a pass.

“Honestly, I woke up this morning seeing all this stuff. I haven’t even noticed that he had a knock or anything, so I don’t know too much about it.

“Like everything, you don’t want to see anybody hurt in the squad. We want him on the pitch as much as we can.

“But if worse comes to worse, then we do have a good squad and people that can fill the void. The more we can have him on the pitch, the better for us.”

ENGLAND’S MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER

Even though Kane didn’t score against Iran, he was still at the heart of everything his country did during their opening World Cup game.

Just like he does for Spurs, he can drop deep and spray passes for fun, link-up with whatever player and carry the ball into the final third like he is a box-to-box midfielder.

Those all-round traits make him very valuable to this England team to the point where he is probably the first name on the team sheet.
