Premier League fixtures 2022/23: when is the schedule released?

The new Premier League season is not too far away despite the previous campaign only finishing at the end of May. The three new promoted sides in the mix are Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest. They replace Burnley, Watford and Norwich City.

The fixtures for the upcoming season will be revealed soon. Here is all you need to know about the Premier League fixture announcement.

When are the fixtures announced?

The fixtures are released on Thursday, June 16 at 9am (BST).

When does the season start?

The opening weekend of the season takes place from Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7.

When does the season end?

The final day of the Premier League season takes place on Sunday, May 28.

When does the 2022 World Cup start?

The 2022-23 Premier League season will be unique as it will be split into two parts. The first part will take place before the 2022 World Cup and the second after the World Cup concludes.

The opening match of the Qatar World Cup takes place on Monday, November 21 with the last Premier League fixtures before it taking place on the weekend of November 12/13.

The final is on Sunday, December 18 and Premier League action returns on Boxing Day.

What are the fixtures to look out for?

After the title race between Manchester City and Liverpool went down to the wire last season, the first meeting between Pep Guardiola’s and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be one clash to look out for.

What TV channels will the Premier League be shown on?

The rights for the 2022-23 Premier League season will be shared across Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime. The BBC will show highlights on Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2.

Although the fixtures for the season will be released at 9am on Thursday, June 16, they are subject to change when the broadcasters make their programming selections.
