Since breaking into Chelsea’s first squad, the player who came up through the Cobham youth system has established himself as an indispensable component of the club’s success.
Due to the fact that the 24-year-old has had a difficult time reaching his full potential and is already well on his way to making 200 appearances for Chelsea despite the fact that he is only halfway through his fourth season, it may be time for him to take a break at this point.
There is little doubt about his ability to combine midfield and attack, and during his time in the senior Chelsea set-up, he earned the trust of Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, and Potter.
This speaks volumes about his overall quality. It is impossible to put together a squad that does not include him, which suggests that he may have acquired an excessive amount of importance.
If Potter wants to maintain the same formation as the one he used against Fulham, Felix does not provide a straight option for that formation.
Mount’s adaptability, which allows him to either form a midfield three or assist Kai Havertz depending on the circumstances of the game, does not fit the profile of the great player who is currently out on loan.
Due to the fact that Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are still unable to play, Carney Chukwuemeka would be a good choice to provide support for Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher in the middle of the field.
Alternately, Ruben Loftus-Cheek might be able to win his way back into the matchday squad to form a base with Fernandez, while Gallagher might be given greater leeway to attack.
