Tonight, the Frenchman haunted PSG again with another winning strike in the 53rd minute to hand Bayern an advantage going into the second leg.
Despite returning in time from injury before tonight’s clash at the Parc des Princes, Kylian Mbappé only made the bench as Lionel Messi and Neymar both started against Bayern.
Mbappé’s absence in the first half greatly affected PSG who struggled to find their footing against Bayern in the early stages of the match.
After the break, Bayern who enjoyed more possession of the ball finally made their dominance count as Kingsley Coman opened the scoring for the Bavarian giants.
During the UCL final in 2020, Coman celebrated his goal against his former club PSG probably because it was at a neutral ground with no fans present in the stadium.
But today, the French winger did not celebrate which was the right thing to do because he scored at the home of PSG and would have angered the home supporters if he celebrated.
Bayern were lucky and had the VAR to thank for helping them to preserve their slender lead till the end despite the fact that Mbappé scored twice after coming on as a substitute in the second period.
