The lanky forward struck four times to take his international tally to 15 goals in 23 appearances for the Nigerian Super Eagles.

Still just 23, Osimhen is already proving himself to be one of the best strikers in the world of football, and it’s no surprise that the Napoli player has been linked with a move to some of England’s big teams recently.

According to English publication ‘The Sun’, Arsenal have made the first bid for Osimhen which was knocked back by Napoli.

The Gunners reportedly offered the Italian side £51 million for their prized asset which falls way too short of their £85m valuation for the Nigerian.

For the record, Napoli paid a club record fee of £65m for Victor in 2020, so for Arsenal to bid £51m for the player is ridiculous. It’s like a slap on the face of Osimhen’s current employers.

Should Napoli eventually decide to sell, it’s believed that they will not accept anything less than £80m, and here’s why Arsenal have to submit a very much improved offer if they really want to land their man.

Liverpool recently agreed a €100m deal with Benfica for the transfer of Darwin Núñez.

Comparing the two players, Osimhen have scored a total of 81 goals so far in his senior career while Darwin Núñez have found the back of the net just 69 times in nearly 150 matches.

Coming to performances for their respective countries, Osimhen currently have 23 goals involvements (15 goals and 8 assists) in 23 appearances compared to Darwin Núñez’s 2 goals in 11 games for Uruguay.

So if the Uruguay international can go for €100m, how much more Osimhen who seems to be more clinical in front of goal.

Osimhen is still young, very energetic, uses his body well and also extremely good on the air. Just yesterday, we all saw the two headed goals he scored and how he always gets in-behind the defense to create space for himself.

These are the kind of rare attributes Arsenal have been missing in their strikers for years now, so why not pay up for a player who can deliver at least 20 goals contributions a season?

Osimhen is already scoring goals for fun when he’s yet to turn 24, so just imagine when he hits his peak form the kind of threat he will be for defenders.

Arsenal simply cannot afford to miss out on this huge talent.
