An end to end performance saw the first 45 minutes end in a goalless draw. Luis Diaz and Naby Keita had efforts on goal but failed to hit the target and at the other end, Pulisic, Alonso failed to find the back of the net.

Chelsea started the second half on the front foot and Alisson was forced to deny Pulisic before Marcos Alonso hit the cross bars from a freekick.

Both sides fought hard to score the winner but the game ended goalless at regular time. At extra time neither could find the back of the net and it went straight to penalties where Azpilicueta, Mount and Mane missed from 12 yards before Tsimikas fired home the winner for Liverpool at Wembley.

After the game ended in Liverpool’s favour, Luis Diaz was named man of the match. The Colombian international had a brilliant performance against Chelsea and caused a lot of problems down the flank but he was unlucky to get on the scoresheet at regular time.
