The Uruguayan will stay with the Reds family until 2028, as Liverpool paid an €80 million fee plus €20 million add ons. In all fairness, the German gaffer is reinforcing his attack ahead of the next campaign.
Apparently, Sadio Mané is expected to join Bayern Munich, as Liverpool wants the Uruguayan youngster to replace him at Anfield.
Without being sentimental, the Reds’ attack will be formidable in 2022-2023, because Darwin will evolve an amazing combination with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino.
Statistically speaking, Darwin Núñez was an unstoppable force for Benfica in the league last season. He scored 26 goals, missed 14 big chances, created 10 big chances, registered 4 assists, had 2.8 dribbles per game, and 1.5 shots on target per game.
Aside from that, the Uruguayan goal-machine scored 6 goals in the UEFA Champions League. Averaging a goal every 81.3 minutes with a conversion rate of 31.4%.
In all fairness, the 22-year-old Uruguayan will definitely succeed at Liverpool. Reportedly, Manchester United showed interest in the player, but he rejected their offer because he wants to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
However, Diogo Jota may not play regularly in the 2022-2023 campaign, because Darwin will play as a regular forward under Jurgen Klopp.
