Last Sunday, in a sermon that resonated with many, Pastor E. A. Adeboye emphasized the age-old wisdom that “wise people are usually quiet, and a fool is known by the multitude of words.” In this statement, he encouraged us to reexamine our relationships with those who tend to have a loosed mouth.

The fundamental message is clear: those who constantly chatter may lack the depth of thought that comes with contemplative silence. This isn’t to say that everyone who talks a lot is foolish, but rather to reveal the importance of choosing our companions wisely.

Furthermore, Pastor Adeboye warns that individuals who have nothing else to say may inadvertently reveal your secrets in the course of their ceaseless talking. The wisdom here is twofold: not only should we be cautious about sharing confidential information with those who talk excessively, but we should also reflect on our own speech patterns.
