The politicians in the northern part of the country are gradually taking over their southern counterparts concerning the upcoming presidential election in the year 2023. Some months ago, all the governors in the southern part of the country held a meeting in Lagos State to find a way to project a southern politician to be the next president of the country. Those governors in attendance sacrificed their allegiances to their political parties before reaching the conclusion that the region will produce the next president of the country. They (the governors) did away with their various party affiliations by uniting together as one for the benefit of the southern part of the country.

Although the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) rejected the request, the ambition was still a solid one. However, as things stand now, the politicians in the northern part of the country have started taking over the southerners in the upcoming presidential election race. The first factor that shows that the northern politicians are ahead of the southerners in the upcoming presidential election race is that politicians who have been showing interest so far in becoming the next president of the country are majorly from the northern part of the country. No popular politician from the southern part of the country that has publicly declared his ambitions concerning the upcoming general election in the year 2023.

Some weeks ago, the former Senate President of the country, Dr Bukola Saraki declared his interest to run for presidency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is a northerner, and he has taken a step ahead of those that have yet to Nigerians their plans in the upcoming presidential election that has been scheduled to hold in February 2023.

Another prominent factor that indicates that the northern politicians are ahead of the southerners in the 2023 presidential election race is that they fought their ways to be involved in the electioneering process. The leaders in the southern region of the country have earlier said that the position is only coming to the south, but those in the north fought their ways in to be included. The northerners are really ahead of the southerners in the 2023 election race.
