There are some situations in which this is the case.

In the following paragraphs, we will discuss a few of these scenarios and explain why it is in everyone’s best interest to steer clear of drinking water under these conditions.

1. While eating meals

Consuming water during meals has the potential to dilute the digestive juices that are already present in the stomach, which may impede the digestion process.

This may cause bloating, gas, and indigestion in certain individuals. Instead, make it a point to drink water at least half an hour before or after eating a meal to help your body digest the food.

2. While engaging in strenuous physical activity

Sweating causes you to lose a significant amount of fluids whenever you engage in strenuous physical activity. Drinking water while exercising might induce cramping and pain, so it is not a good idea to do so.

If you do drink water, try to limit how much you consume. Consume water both before and after your workout if you want to keep yourself hydrated.

3. When you have a high body water content

Consuming an excessive amount of water, also known as hyperhydration, can cause a condition known as hyponatremia, which is characterised by a low sodium level in the blood.

Headaches, nausea, and confusion are just some of the symptoms that might result from this. If you get the feeling that you have overhydrated, it is recommended to refrain from drinking water until you have recovered your normal level of comfort.

4. When you have a virus that affects your stomach

Drinking water while you have a stomach bug can make your symptoms much more severe. This is due to the fact that your body is already working to rid itself of the virus through the processes of vomiting and diarrhoea, and drinking water may cause your stomach to become more upset.

Instead, try sipping clear drinks like broth or ginger ale until you feel better. This will help flush out your system.

5. If you are experiencing kidney issues,

If you have kidney difficulties, reducing the amount of fluid you consume is essential since your kidneys might not be able to digest the additional fluid if you consume too much.
