The gang has been linked to attacks on US coilers on several occasions. What is the method of operation? Is it a cult or simply a group of white racists? Here are five fascinating facts about the Ku Klux Klan that you probably didn’t know.
Anyway, there are three main ones, which have spawned several splinter groups with the same name throughout the years. In the 1860s, the first KKK was formed as a social club (unfortunately, it soon became a group with a malicious “purpose”).
With the rise of Jewish and Catholic immigration, and the iconic film The Birth of a Nation by D.W. Griffith. These were the ones that added cross-burning and mass marches to the original group’s white robes and ciphers.
Finally, in the 1950s, when the civil rights movement was solidly on the American side, the third Ku Klux Klan—whose members can still be found on opportunistic talk programs and vile Twitter accounts—became a thing.
Even if it’s simply for show, secret organizations flourish by presenting the appearance that they’ve been around for generations. The Ku Klux Klan devised (or copied from other sources) a set of rituals and activities to entertain themselves and confuse others when they were six Confederate soldiers who formed a fellowship for themselves in Tennessee.
They were trolls until they decided to use public violence as a political weapon.
“Ku Klux” is derived from the Greek word “kilos,” which means “circle” (it is said that they initially chose “Kuklux”, but it was quickly changed to two words). The “Klan” is merely an alliteration spelling, yet they refer to themselves as “The Circle Clan.”
Stetson Kennedy, a civil rights fighter, entered the KKK’s ranks in 1946 and learned how they operated before contacting the creators of the popular radio show “Superman Adventures.” To halt 16 episodes, they used the Ku Klux Klan as Iron Man’s nemesis, undermining the group’s carefully constructed mystique.
You can be perplexed by his real-time Twitter rants on Hillary Clinton, but the true gift that American politician David Duke offered to the KKK was to turn them into a corporation.
He created the Ku Klux Klan (KKKK) shortly after graduating from college, and he and his followers are credited with improvements such as altering the position of Grand Wizard to National Director and replacing the white robes with professional suits.
