The altercation ensued after the disruption of a meeting by a faction of church members, who were allegedly planning to challenge the authority of the church elders.

Following the disruption of the meeting, a fight broke up between the elders and the church members.

Attempts by the preacher to quell the fight hit the rocks as some of the congregants beat him up.

While revolting against the church leadership, a section of the congregants accused the church hierarchy of adamantly refusing to step down to allow for fresh board elections.

During the chaotic scrimmage which involved the church pastor, numerous individuals sustained injuries, resulting in a trail of destruction within the church premises.

The altercation persisted for several minutes, resulting in three individuals sustaining critical injuries, one of whom suffered severe head trauma.

According to congregants who spoke to the press, the altercation escalated after a member donated Ksh12.5 million as tithe.

They accused the management of mismanaging the funds by contravening the agreement reached on how the funds were to be allocated.

According to one of the church members, part of the funds was meant for field work while the remaining part was for in-house development.

“There is some money here that we received, about Ksh12.5 million and this money is supposed to be divided into two categories. A share of it for fieldwork and the other part for church development” claimed a church member.

“3.77 million was meant for field work but was not utilised in the fieldwork. The money was also used to purchase this building worth 7.5 million. Even to purchase this building they wanted the money to be added,” the member added.
