Manchester City started the game on the front foot as it took them just eight minutes to find the back of the net. Foden managed to beat De Gea with a spectacular finding from close range to put City in front.

Things got even better for Manchester City before the half-hour mark as Erling Haaland doubled the lead with a sublime header from close range. The Norwegian attacker doubled his tally with another strike after receiving a delightful crossball pass from De Bruyne.

Phil Foden compounded United’s mystery right before the end of the first half. The attacker tapped the ball home from close range to extend Manchester City’s lead.

It is quite easy to say Erling Haaland was the most dangerous player on the pitch. However, Haaland would have been less effective if Martinez had kept a close tab on the Norwegian attacker in the game.

Martinez woefully failed to tame Haaland, and that mounted great pressure on Varane throughout the course of the first half. The defender lost three duels, and also failed to dispossess Erling Haaland in four attempts.
