Tyson, 58, noted that the decision to give up marijuana and sex is due to the discipline it imposes on him to arrive as well as possible for the fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. “I’m living my life in a disciplined way now, so now I’m going to have to fight disciplined,” he commented.

On Saturday, in another interview, this time on The Damon Elliott Show, he downplayed the ‘abstinence’ time “I haven’t smoked for two and a half weeks now. And I haven’t had sex for two and a half weeks.” In 2018, Tyson had previously said he gave up sex for about five years because he believed it would make him a better boxer.

The marijuana waiver was part of the regulations for the Paul fight, as its use is banned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees combat sports in Texas. And, therefore, he could test positive if he smoked before the bout.

The bout has raised a lot of buzz. Tyson noted a few days ago: “Everybody, even most athletes, is jealous of me, it’s crazy… Even in the best of times, you couldn’t draw a million people, you couldn’t sell out a stadium.
