Manchester City who has 53 points from 21 league games, and are at top of the premier league table will be looking to extend their lead from 10 points to 13 points by beating their Visitors. Chelsea on the other hand, will be seeking to close the gap between them and the Citizens to 7 points from 10 points by securing the maximum 3 points against their host.
Just in November, Chelsea were at the top of the table but a run of poor performance and inconsistent results caused the Blues to slip and conceded their spot at the top of the league table to City. It’s also worthy of note that Chelsea have won just 1 and drawn 4 out of their last 5 League games.
The Blues played draw against Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Liverpool which are all among their last 5 Premier League games while Aston Villa was the only team that Chelsea overcome.
Manchester City were able to capitalize on Chelsea’s bad form in the league as the Citizens are currently on a winning streak that has stretched across 11 Premier League. Since Manchester City beat their local rivals Manchester United in the first week of November last year, they have been winning all their League games.
Manchester City’s current impressive form in the EPL started in November 2021 and they have maintained it into January 2022. They have a strong Squad with great depth. It’s why Many Football enthusiasts already believed that the Citizens have won this season’s premier league title even with 16 more games to go. It’s just inconceivable that Manchester City will lose the 10-point lead that they have in EPL.
However, there’s everything for Chelsea to play for as they look to disrupt Manchester City’s form and decrease the margin between them. Whether Chelsea are still in the title race or it’s Manchester City that will be the ultimate winner, the 90 minutes of play at the Etihad on Saturday will determine that. One thing that’s clear is that any results that’s not 3 points for Chelsea put Manchester City at a great advantage.
