Erik ten Hag’s side had started the Manchester derby on the back foot as the home side dominated possession in the opening exchanges.
But against the run of play, Rashford put United in front and silenced his critics with a powerful strike from 25-yards after a layoff from Bruno Fernandes inside eight minutes.
Gary Neville, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, said: ‘That’s the best way to answer everybody, smash one in the net from 25 yards.
