Reports earlier this month from Italian outlet Il Mattino claimed Manchester United were set to complete the €60m transfer of Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae on July 1.

The report stated that Erik ten Hag’s side will trigger the buy-out clause in Kim’s contract, which will be active during the first 15 days of July. It was added that the player has accepted the club’s contract offer of £9m-per-year, which accounts for around £175,000-per-week.

However, just a few days later, 101 covered reports claiming that Bayern were close to striking a contract agreement with Kim, following a fresh round of productive talks between the parties.

The report from FI on Saturday, meanwhile, adds that despite being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, failure to progress in talks to sign the 26-year-old has led to the Red Devils withdrawing their interest, and although that provided Bayern Munich will a clear path to completing a deal, Manchester City may have other ideas.
