The German international, whose contract expires in June, is reportedly a target for City, according to El Nacional. The 32-year-old, who has played more than 350 times for Los Blancos, had three successful seasons at Bayern Munich under Guardiola.
Elsewhere, According to The Athletic, Gabriel Jesus would have chosen Chelsea over Arsenal if given the choice to leave City in the summer. The Brazilian’s transfer to Stamford Bridge, however, is rumored to have been denied.
With three goals and three assists in six outings for the Gunners since leaving the Etihad Stadium, Jesus has been spectacular. For Mikel Arteta’s team, the 25-year-old has led the line admirably and displayed threat in front of goal.
Despite the Blues ownership ‘advocating’ a move for Jesus, former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel initially decided he did not want to recruit a new striker over the summer.
The German coach, however, is alleged to have changed his mind and swiftly agreed to sign Jesus, but the owners ultimately decided against making the signing.
The situation left Tuchel “frustrated,” especially since Jesus was eager to join Chelsea “instead of” Arsenal. The German acquired Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona prior to being fired.
