Ten Hag believes that Sancho’s exclusion from first-team training during the World Cup would help the winger restore his composure and fitness. Sancho has mostly underperformed since his high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Forest, Newcastle, and Southampton are the other three clubs competing for the Carabao Cup, giving United a big chance to secure their first major trophy since 2017.

Despite regrettably admitting that all three goals against Arsenal could have been prevented, Ten Hag was generally pleased with how his squad played defense.

He told reporters, “I think we played pretty well [defensively] in a number of games. “We kept a lot of clean sheets, and against Man City, we defended well.” In general, we defended well against Arsenal as well. Only once did they manage a clear chance, and that was from a free-kick.
