The suspected car thief, whose name was given as Abdullahi Jamilu, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Tactical Team of the command following information received about the theft of the vehicle after it was washed at the car wash centre in Kaduna State.

It was gathered that as a result of the information received apparently from the Kaduna State Police Command, the Tactical Team mounted a surveillance on the Kaduna-Kano highway and their efforts yielded fruits when they intercepted the said SUV driven by Jamilu.

He was promptly arrested and during his interrogation, he was said to have confessed to the policemen that he stole the vehicle from a car wash centre in Kaduna and decided to drive it away through Kano.

According to a statement by the Kano State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa and posted on the Facebook wall of the command, the man had given more useful information to the police operatives while the owner of the vehicle had been contacted.

Jamilu was one of the 15 car thieves that were arrested and paraded by the state police command who were said to have stolen a total of 20 vehicles.
