There are a lot of factors that affect the sperm count of a man. In this article, we will focus on foods that have negative effects on a man’s sperm count. These foods include;

1. Alcohol

Excessive consumption of alcohol has negative impact on male reproductive health. It lowers testosterone levels and reduces sperm count. It also affects sperm motility and the number of sperm released. Although an occasional drink is not harmful, limit your intake of alcohol. Excessive consumption of alcohol can limit your reproductive abilities.

2. Dairy products

Dairy products such as milk, cheese and butter have been linked to low sperm count. Full fat dairy products have been shown to reduce sperm motility. Excessive consumption of full fat dairy products results in abnormally shaped sperm. Reduced sperm motility and abnormal shaped sperm can result in fertility issues.

Instead of drinking full fat dairy products opt for low fat dairy products. If you enjoy drinking milk, then you should switch to low fat options like skimmed milk or you can have non-dairy alternatives like oat milk and coconut milk.

3. Processed meat

This includes sausages, bacon, corned beef and other processed packaged meats. Studies carried out have shown that processed meat affects the shape and morphology of sperm. Although processed meats are tasty, it is best you stick to unprocessed meats. Fish, chicken and turkey are healthy and have no negative impact on your overall reproductive health.
